It’s not just Tesla and Lucid that enjoy four-digit power outputs, but Porsche now as well. The Taycan Turbo GT is now the most hardcore electric vehicle from Stuttgart, and an optional Weissach Package sets the bar even higher.

An upgraded electric powertrain with a more powerful pulse inverter allows the new GT to generate 777 horsepower and 988 lb-ft of torque. That’s raised to a staggering 1,092 hp on overboost. The result is a 0-100 km/h time of 2.2 seconds, which is 1.3 seconds quicker than the Taycan Turbo S, but one-tenth of a second slower than the Tesla Model S Plaid, and two-tenths slower than the Lucid Air Sapphire.

But Porsche understands that performance isn’t just about straight line speed – leave that to the try-hards. As such, the GT comes with some new and innovative features. The first is Attack Mode, a push-to-pass button on the steering wheel that triggers an additional 161 hp for just 10 seconds. It can also be activated by flicking the right-side paddle shifter.

The next is lightweighting. The GT weighs a whopping 75 kg less than the Turbo S thanks to a liberal use of carbon fibre on the B-pillars, door mirrors, and side skirts. That’s in addition to the full carbon bucket seats, carbon ceramic brakes, and the deletion of the electric closing tailgate.

The optional Weissach package takes it one step further with more aggressive body elements that aid in aerodynamics. That includes a fixed rear wing with a carbon-weave finish, air deflector elements on the underbody, and a redesigned front diffuser. The charge port is no longer electrically operated, and the rear seats have been deleted, replaced with carbon cladding and a storage compartment. Also deleted are all non-essential elements such as the analog clock on the dashboard, cabin insulation, floor mats, and rear speakers. The result is a 70 kg reduction compared to the GT without the Weissach package.

Confident in their new electric flagship, Porsche went so far as to set a new class lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and the fastest electric series-production car record at Laguna Seca.

Canadian pricing for the 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT starts at $270,000, with the first batch of deliveries starting in the third quarter of this year.
