This is McLaren’s replacement for the GT, a lighter and more powerful supercar that now offers more personalization options than ever before. While not the volume seller of the storied British brand, the GT has always been an appealing option for those seeking a more comfortable, more usable, and more functional everyday supercar. But it’s against some tough competition from the newly unveiled Aston Martin DB12, Porsche 911 Turbo, and Maserati GranTurismo.

The new GTS retains the same lightweight carbon fibre construction and monocoque chassis as the GT, but a more aggressive engine tune and revised ignition timing allowed McLaren to squeeze out an extra 14 horsepower from the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine, for a grand output of 626 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. The engine is partnered with the same 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, sending power exclusively to the rear wheels. While the 0-100 km/h time remains the same as the GT at 3.2 seconds, McLaren quotes that the GTS is indeed faster from 0-200 km/h instead, nailing it in 8.9 seconds.

It will take a keen eye and some back-to-back comparisons to notice any of the GTS’ styling changes. The front bumper, rear fenders, and wheel-designs have been manicured out, and the rear end receives larger air vents to aid in engine cooling. New wheel designs and exterior paint colours are on offer such as Lava Grey (as shown), Mantis Green, Tanzanite Blue, and Ice White. The cabin also receives upgraded leather and colour options.

The McLaren GTS is already available to order but we have yet to receive Canadian pricing. Deliveries are scheduled for later this year.
